November 2021, I purchased a new 2022 Thor Motorcoach Tuscany 45MX from Motor Home Specialist RV in Alvarado, Texas.
When I purchased this motorcoach, we envisioned traveling the country and visiting distinct friends in other states. We were going to be near full time - liveaboards and enjoying traveling in retirement. But none of this has happened because of Thor’s lack of quality and the many defects with their product.
This experience has destroyed our dreams and now every time we’re in the motorcoach, drive the motorcoach or just look at this motorcoach, all we think of is the trouble we’ve experienced, trips we couldn’t take and time & expense lost because of Thor’s poor quality and selling us a very defective product. We’ve lost over two years of our lives that we should have been traveling and enjoying our lives because of Thor.
I have created this site to share our experience of owning a Thor product which has been the worst decision of my life.
I should have known this was a mistake the day we purchased the Motorcoach. As it turned out, we bought it but could not take delivery (go home in it) because of defects immediately found.
Some of the defects were;
· When the floor heater is turned on, one of the under storage slide out opens on its own
· The dishwasher unusable - door does not shut properly
· The pullout cabinet is broken and does not slide in/out properly
· The rear heater makes a vibrating noise when running
· House stereo turns on randomly (by itself)
· GPS turns on randomly (by itself)
Note: These are just some of the initial defects found & reported
15 days later, we returned to Motor Home Specialist RV (the dealer) to pick up the Motorcoach.
Once we got the Motorcoach home, I began to plan for our first trip to Scottsdale Arizona. But a new Major Defect occurred intermittently.
I called this major defect, "The coach went Dark" problem".
The following is from an email I sent to Motor Home Specialist RV in January 2022.
"Last week I was preparing for our first trip in our new coach to Scottsdale, AZ
But on Friday evening, I had the problem that has occurred several times. I call it "The coach went Dark". It lost all House Battery power and AC Power.
This problem occurred even though the coach was plugged into a 50A Shore Power
We had to unload the refrigerator, etc. since it didn't have any power.
After two days, it slowly came back to life. On Sunday morning, it had AC Power again.
I was scheduled to leave on Monday Morning for Scottsdale, AZ and had spots reserved (and paid for) for a 2+ week trip that I'm still trying to get refunds for.
Meanwhile, I have called your service department multiple times and left message for a callback, but as of now, I have not received a call.
I am requesting your help to get Thor to respond and answer my questions
And I am requesting your help to schedule and confirm when I can bring the coach to your service department to get my problems resolved.
I'm am preparing a list of issues that I have with this coach.
Please respond and let me know what can be done.
As I stated, I've got a brand new coach sitting in my driveway that is unusable."
This was the beginning of the nightmare of owning a Thor Motorcoach.

Days of ownership (as of 12/20/2022)
Total Days owned the motorcoach -> 403
Total days in the shop or unusable -> 326 (81%)
As you can see, the first year (403 days of ownership), the Motorcoach was in the shop or unusable for 326 days or 81% of the time.
